A liitle about the repeater

Both repeaters are located HERE, on the roof of Bath University overlooking the historic city of Bath

GB3UB is the 70cm 433mhz voice repeater and operates on 433.100/434.700mhz, ctcss 118.8hz. It uses a converted Storno base station using G8CUL logic running 10w to two Jaybeam folded dipoles. It provides hand-held coverage around the city of Bath, out towards Chippenham, down towards Midsomer Norton and across towards Westbury. It is internet linked via Echolink (node no. 201135 )
MB7UB is the APRS data digipeater.

Operating and photo's

Been listening in on the repeater and things seem to going very well. Quite a few new callsign coming on which is very encouraging to me. It does seem now that 'if you can hear it, you can work it'. Below are a few photo's (i did do some work!!)

Now, just a note about operating through the repeater. I have noticed quite a lot of stations opening the repeater and not giving a callsign. I am aware that some of these may be weak signals so no problem there. However if you are checking to see if you can access or checking the Echolink is active, could I ask you give your call (required) and if possible your location.
Also as the repeater becomes more widely used there is the chance that some people will try and spoil our enjoyment. This is very rare on 70cm but if you do encounter this here are some helpful points -
Ignore it - this is sometimes very difficult, but do not rise to the bait.
Do not reply to any call.
If you do here anyting please let me know of times etc.

Apart from that, enjoy the repeater and please spread the word that UB is up and running.
